What The Clay Hell-ton?
With 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, USC is finding themselves down 28-7 to Notre Dame. I’m not sure if I feel more anger or disappointment. This is absolutely ridiculous. USC has looked worse and worse week after week. Notre Dame is running straight through our front seven, and calling bootleg play-action plays that are getting 15 yards a pop. The USC defense has no answer. Meanwhile, USC’s offense looks like trash. Let me rephrase that; USC’s offensive line looks like trash. The only worse thing could be that midget Rudy coming out and scoring a touchdown for the Irish. Oh, look at that, now USC is down 35-7. This is just great! We now have seemed to eliminate any minuscule chance we had at the College Football Playoff. We still have a slim chance at the PAC-12 title game. This whole downturn of a season has to come back on the coaches. USC has as much talent as any other team in the nation, yet we still seem to under-achieve. We’ve had a Top-5 recruiting class the last three years, and have seemed to not be able to develop those players. I am convinced that Sam Darnold should be solely credited for all of our wins this season. I am torn between thinking we need to clean house on our coaching staff this offseason, or if I need to just “trust the process”. Whatever it is, this has been a somewhat disappointing season so far. But we will stay calm and FIGHT ON! Oh, and by the way, we are now down 42-14.
